Shawn Van Decker, PTA, CPT Shawn_VanDecker@bshsi.org
Shawn graduated from Medical Careers Institute as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2013. He also obtained a B.S. in Kinesiology with a focus in Exercise Science from Longwood University in 2011 and is a Certified Personal Trainer. He has experience in a variety of settings and has spent the majority of his career in orthopaedics, outpatient sports medicine and sports performance.
Shawn believes that the best rehabilitation comes from a team effort, both with his patients and fellow clinicians, and that the best motivator for success is helping patients relate their exercises to their functional goals. His experience with sports performance with athletes and general population has allowed him to gain skills in altering programs for each patient as every person is unique. His emphasis has been treating post-operative patients, preventive care.
Shawn has played competitive soccer for 19 years and was recruited by many universities but decided to focus on school instead. Outside work, he enjoys outdoor sports, going to the gym, time with family and friends, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.
