Michael Puglia, ATC, VATL
Mike is our Certified Athletic Trainer at Powhatan High School who earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Athletic Training from James Madison University in 2011. While Attending JMU, Mike’s hard work and dedication earned him the JMU Athletic Training Director’s Award given to the student who excels academically, exudes leadership, and has the greatest potential to give back to the athletic training profession.
Since graduation, Mike has been awarded the 2015 Vito Perriello Secondary School Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Virginia Athletic Trainers Association, as well as the 2014-2015 Powhatan High School Award of Excellence. In addition, Mike was named to the Virginia Athletic Trainers Advisory Board to the Board of Medicine by Governor Terry McAluiffe where he serves as Chair and is actively involved on the Virginia Athletic Trainers Associations Governmental Affairs Committee and Powhatan County’s Health Advisory Committee.
Mike and his wife Ilana live in Richmond with their dog Jax and two cats, Maddieand Izzy. Outside of Athletic Training, Mike enjoys hiking and spending time with his family and friends. Mike is nationally certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and licensed by the Virginia State Board of Medicine.
